I first learned about this small island called Whidbey Island from a coworker earlier this week. With no plans still on Saturday night, I decided to hit the road and head down to Whidbey Island the next day.

We followed the Google Map and drove down (and took a 15 minutes ferry ride) to this island just an hour away from Seattle. Without doing any homework prior to this trip, we decided to pick the nearest beach we could find on Google Map after we got on the island. To our surprise, we were led to a neighborhood with some of the most beautiful beach homes I have ever seen. We found a place to park off the street, followed a little walkway, and eventually found the most private and exclusive island you can find in the Pudget Sound...

We also had the most gorgeous weather we could ask for on a day trip like this. I guess we would have stayed in per usual if it was raining again...no big deal. But, it's sunny and dry, with the right humidity level, and just enough sunshine to give us some tan while laying on the beach. The sand was so soft! We chatted with some of the residents here and found out that because the beach is so shallow, the two tides sweeping on the beach every day can go for half a mile long. The sand is constantly soaked in the water while all the rocks are swept away. Walking on it definitely felt like walking on a temperature controlled wool carpet.
